Adding a Windows Key for an IBM Thinkpad (in Vista, too!)

I love my Thinkpad T42p to death... Also, flying in the face of popularity, I am really enjoying Vista RC2 (5744). Now, a long standing irk of Windows people on Thinkpads is the lack of a Windows Key. IBM provides, with some digging, the ability to have your Windows key... and to my pleasant and girl-like-giggling surprise, it works in Vista and XP.

1. Download, install, and run the Thinkpad Hotkey tools
2. Reboot.
3. Download, install, and run the Thinkpad Keyboard Customizer Utility
4. Reboot.
5. Reboot again, just because you know you enjoy the downtime.
6. Install Titan Quest, because it's a fun game when you're bored, and it runs on Vista.
7. Run the Keyboard Customizer Utility (from the Start menu, or if you're on Vista, I guess we'll call it the "Windows Orb Thingy Menu", aka )

From the utility, you can assign any key to be the Windows key. Just don't forget to click the "Enable key assignments" checkbox, which is off by default. This process will also make your volume control buttons work, as well as the blue Fn keys.

Enjoy, or perish.

(Update: Use SharpKeys, and all of your IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad key configuration dreams will come true...)
